Peterborough Plus – big news, big award
There’s been a lot happening at Peterborough Plus, not only do we continue to grow our membership, but we are delighted to announce that we’ve secured significant funding for a programme that will enable members to work together to deliver excellent services to the local community as part of a new programme, key to our ethos and mission. This is big news and to our knowledge one of the biggest awards made to a local vcs consortium in this area, ever!!
The new funding is a £1m award to tackle social exclusion in Peterborough and surrounding areas
Peterborough Plus VCSE Consortium Limited have been awarded a £1m grant to tackle social exclusion across the Greater Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Local Enterprise Partnership Region.
The funding has been awarded through Building Better Opportunities (BBO), a programme funded by the European Social Fund (ESF) and Big Lottery fund aiming to tackle the poverty and social exclusion faced by the most disadvantaged people in England.
Peterborough Plus, a partnership of over 40 voluntary and community organisations, will be delivering a programme of support called ‘MYemployAbility’. The programme will support a significant number of those furthest from the labour market back into work by offering innovative, personalised support with a tailored package of barrier busting interventions, designed and commissioned with participants.
Kathy Wormald, Chair of Peterborough Plus said “This is a great achievement for the consortium – it’s the result of our members working together to create a relevant and realistic programme which adds value to what is existing through complementing services, rather than creating areas of competition.
The programme is representative of the diversity and strength of the Peterborough Plus membership, the skills and services our organisations offer.”
The real work starts now and we are looking forward to delivering a programme we truly believe will add benefit across the region.”
